Winter Environmental is managed by a highly knowledgeable, experienced and stable team of executives and senior project managers. Our top four executive officers alone have over 136 years of cumulative experience in the environmental services industry. Winter Environmental’s leadership has near autonomous control over its policies, practices and investments in quality, safety and client satisfaction.

Jim Graham

Jim Graham

Principal, Executive Vice President

Jim Graham serves as a Principal at Winter Environmental, a division of The Winter Construction Company, and has been with the company since 1994. Jim has more than 41 years of experience in environmental remediation and has managed over than 2,500 RCRA, CERCLA, NESHAPS and TCSA environmental projects at sites throughout 30 U.S. states and the Caribbean. Jim is an integral part of Winter Environmental. He is dedicated to inspiring outstanding results and is instrumental in fostering long-lasting client relationships.

Jim’s project involvement is numerous and varied and includes decontamination and remediation of soil, groundwater, and structures and facilities contaminated with herbicides, pesticides, PCB’s and other organic; asbestos, heavy metals, and mold; select demolition; industrial decommissioning / dismantling; radiological clean-up; and catastrophic response. Clients have included the federal government, Department of Defense, USEPA, USCG, and Department of Energy; utility and power generation entities; commercial and industrial petrochemical manufacturing; healthcare; and state and local municipalities.

Jim has also been involved in the development of remediation technologies, including the successful adaptation of a dewatering technology that was originally used in the mining and industrial markets and two thermal incineration technologies. Jim also serves on the National Demolition Association and the Georgia Brownfield Association Board of Directors and Subcommittees.

Jim is active in his community and is an annual volunteer in support of Georgia Special Olympics. Jim has also served as Georgia Special Olympics Summer Games Chairperson and the Advisory Board for United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia Advisory Board, 2006 – 2007.

 

Bucky Thompson

Vice President, Remediation

William “Bucky” Thompson serves Winter Environmental as Vice President of Remediation with over 42 years of experience in the Environmental Industry. He has managed and worked directly on over 1,000 planned and emergency response and remediation projects involving facility demolition, thermal incineration, high-hazard emergency response, landfill construction, uncontrolled waste site remediation, facility decontamination, dredging, and radiological decontamination and remediation throughout his career.

 

Brad Reid

Brad Reid

Principal, Executive Vice President

Brad Reid is a Principal of The Winter Construction Company and manages Winter Environmental's decontamination and demolition service areas. Brad has served Winter Environmental since 1988 and has over 31 years of industry experience including abatement, decontamination and demolition of occupied hospitals and healthcare facilities; large industrial and fossil plants; and occupied office, school, airport, government and Department of Defense facilities. Over 2,700 projects in these service areas have been successfully completed under Mr. Reid's oversight.

Mr. Reid graduated with honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point and received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He received his M.B.A in Finance and Strategy from the University Of Chicago Graduate School Of Business, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. Mr. Reid was commissioned in the Army as a Corps of Engineers Officer and served over five years of active duty. He continued to serve in the Reserve and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 for ten months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Mr. Reid retired from the Army after 30 years of service in June, 2013, retiring at the rank of Colonel.

Mr. Holtzapfel serves as a Project Manager with Winter Environmental and has been with the company since 2014. Beginning his work with Winter, Mr. Holtzapfel served as a Project Engineer. With notable work ethic and diligence, he earned the promotion of Assistant Project Manager and has become a major asset to our company. In the past two years with Winter, he has worked on an impeccable range of over 300 projects; assisting heavily in the areas of risk, budget and time management.

Mr. Hibbard has over 27 years of experience in the environmental contracting field. He has managed over 500 asbestos abatement and demolition projects. His experience includes project management, estimating, and direct field supervision of various commercial, federal, industrial, healthcare and school projects. Mr. Hibbard’s current responsibilities include: jobsite operations, critical path scheduling, health and safety, manpower allocation, quality control, budget control, contract compliance, and adherence to all applicable regulations.

Charlie Barth

Charlie Barth

Senior Project Manager

Charlie has more than 33 years of experience in the construction and environmental remediation industries. He has supervised or managed over 700 projects involving asbestos, lead based paint, demolition, mold/IAQ and remediation services throughout the Southeastern United States. Mr. Barth has a robust history of successfully executing projects within urban and mixed-use settings and within fully occupied/operational facilities and settings where special clearance is required and interruption to activities is not desired.

Additional project experience includes management of multi-family housing, office, schools, military installations, government and historically significant projects.

Roger has more than 30 years experience in the construction industry and 29 years experience in the environmental contracting industry, with Winter Environmental. Mr. Flores was promoted from Superintendent to General Superintendent in June, 2005. During his tenure, Mr. Flores has developed and applied his technical, operational and leadership experience and expertise in the areas of resource planning, site coordination, and with The Winter Corporate Safety Department. Mr. Flores has been involved in a great variety of abatement and demolition projects.

Don Bohensky

Don Bohensky

Chief Estimator

Don Bohensky has over 30 years of experience in the asbestos abatement and demolition industry. Prior to entering the environmental field, Don’s career included nine years of industrial and commercial construction experience. Don also served in the 24th Reserve Naval Mobile Construction Battalion, USNR, further enhancing his construction expertise.

Don’s experience includes project management and cost estimating in the fields of asbestos abatement, lead, remediation, microbial remediation, infection control compliance, and Superfund site remediation and demolition. Don has been instrumental in developing Winter Environmental’s ability to perform a wide range of services within the environmental industry and has managed, supervised and estimated over 2,000 projects.

Throughout the past seven years, Don has served as Chief Estimator for Winter Environmental’s Estimating Department. Don has implemented the application of Winter Environmental’s “Rembid” cost estimating program on a wide variety of environmental projects that have provided clients and project managers with the ability to access detailed cost analysis in a timely manner. In addition, Don has developed, implemented and maintains a productivity metrics program that records actual field production vs. estimated production as part of Winter Environmental’s on-going cost tracking and estimating process.

Ralph Leptrone

Ralph Leptrone

Senior Project Manager

Ralph Leptrone serves as Senior Project Manager at Winter Environmental and has been with the company since 2007.  Ralph has over 31 years of experience in the environmental industry, ranging from environmental consulting services to estimating and project management.  Notable experience includes: the management of sampling projects requiring monitoring, data collection and sampling of multimedia and hazardous wastes in accordance with EPA procedures and protocols; site analysis using phase contrast microscopy (PCM); and micro-vacuum dust sampling studies identifying the presence and concentration of residual asbestos or lead-containing dusts within buildings and their impact on operations and maintenance.  Ralph has led sampling activities at the on-site hazardous and radioactive waste incinerator located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s facility in Oak Ridge, TN.  Ralph currently serves as the Project Manager for an on-call asbestos and lead-based paint abatement services with Georgia Power Company.

Scott Livengood

Scott Livengood

Mr. Livengood has over 37 years of experience in personnel and logistics management, quality assurance, safety and maintenance, including over 18 years of experience with Winter Environmental. In his capacity at Winter Environmental, Scott has served in multiple capacities, including positions as the Project Superintendent, Logistics Manager, Site Safety Officer and Fleet Manager for Winter Environmental’s 26,000 SF Operations Center that includes warehouse and yard operations and a rolling fleet of over 100 vehicles.

Scott has managed the mobilization and supervision of numerous projects including emergency response efforts to Hurricanes Katrina and Ivan. Scott’s responsibilities included: equipment and personnel tracking and management; materials and equipment purchasing, receiving, inventory, quality control and site safety; dispatch; hazardous materials management; security; facilities maintenance; asbestos, radiological, mold remediation and demolition operational safety management and execution with an emphasis on plan development and execution. Scott is known for his ability to improve

processes, troubleshoot problems, develop and maintain effective training programs, team building and developing and driving quality standards. Scott has a solid reputation for bringing complex projects to completion- on time and within budget.

In addition, Scott has served in the U. S. Marine Corps and earned the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (Ret.). While serving, Scott represented Marine Corps presence with foreign military, defended a U.S. Embassy in Africa, served on the decision-making body in Argentina, and coordinated various community support services.  Scott has also served in direct Presidential Support cross-training as Marine One Crew Chief to fly with Presidents Ronald Regan and George H.W. Bush, and served as Crew Chief for the Marine Corps Commandant Aircraft. Scott holds an upgradable U.S. Armed Forces Security Clearance.
