Winter Environmental was subcontracted to perform asbestos abatement services for the decommissioned 683 MW Chesapeake Energy Center coal fired power plant. The work spanned multiple power generation units and support structures, requiring coordinated planning and safe removal of both friable and non friable asbestos containing materials across a large industrial campus.
The scope included abatement within Power Units 1 through 4, the warehouse, CT–1, CT–3, and CT–5 buildings, turbine offices, the Lime Treatment building, Coal Yard Service building, Pump House, Administration building, Shops and Offices, and various ancillary structures containing asbestos roofing materials. Materials removed included caulk, window glazing, roofing and roof flashing, floor tile and mastic, pipe insulation, tank insulation, duct insulation, gaskets, and Transite siding.
