Winter Environmental provided rapid response asbestos abatement at the historic Conner’s Creek Power Plant in Detroit, Michigan. The 75-acre riverfront site, formerly operated by DTE Energy, included the Two Brothers Plant—targeted for expedited demolition to support Chrysler Fiat’s new auto assembly facility. After demolition began in 2019, additional asbestos-containing materials were discovered, requiring urgent remediation to maintain schedule.

Winter Environmental mobilized a dedicated team to remove regulated wiring, Transite, switchgear, and various friable and non-friable materials across the structure. A 50-person crew operated six days per week on 10 hour shifts, including specialty rope access teams to reach areas inaccessible by conventional means. This high efficiency approach kept demolition efforts on track and avoided delays, supporting the redevelopment of one of Detroit’s most iconic industrial sites.
