Winter Environmental was contracted to perform a two phase project which consisted of asbestos abatement and universal waste removal at a former fire station in East Point to prepare the site for demolition and construction of the new city hall and existing auditorium building. The initial phase included removing 905 square feet of carpet, 1,950 square feet of asbestos floor tile, and 1,990 square feet of mastic. Crews also abated 125 linear feet of thermal system insulation and completed roof level work involving roof cap cement, silver roof coating, and removal of window and door caulk. Universal waste handling included fluorescent bulbs, ballasts, incandescent bulbs, HID fixtures, exit signs, and thermostats.
Phase 2: East Point Auditorium Asbestos Abatement
The second phase covered the auditorium building, which required a larger and more complex abatement effort. Winter Environmental removed and disposed of 700 auditorium seats, abated 7,056 square feet of ACM debris, and demolished 2,000 square feet of stage structures. Crews removed and disposed of ten window and stage curtains and performed abatement of 5,000 square feet of upper plaster ceilings in the auditorium and balcony that contained ACM glue dots. Additional work included demolition of 3,000 square feet of carpet and removal of 1,500 square feet of ACM floor mastic.
