Winter Environmental was contracted to execute three separate environmental projects at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Working within one of the nation’s most secure and technically demanding federal facilities, the team delivered asbestos abatement services and installed air sparge and groundwater pump and treat systems across two active operational areas. All work required precise planning, strict compliance with NASA and federal environmental standards, and coordination with multiple federal, engineering, and contractor teams.

One project involved comprehensive asbestos abatement inside an occupied support facility. Work was performed under controlled containment and tight scheduling to avoid disruption to ongoing operations. Materials included floor tile, mastic, pipe insulation, and other legacy building components common to older mission support buildings.

At a second location, Winter Environmental installed an air sparge remediation system designed to treat volatile contaminants in shallow subsurface soils. This required drilling and setting a network of sparge wells, installing compressed air distribution piping, and integrating system controls in coordination with NASA environmental staff.

The third project added a groundwater pump and treat system to support long term remediation efforts. The scope included installing extraction wells, conveyance piping, treatment equipment, and discharge structures, along with constructing concrete pads and utility connections required to bring the system online.
