Winter Environmental was contracted on two separate projects at Oak Ridge National Laboratory to perform asbestos and lead abatement, mechanical and electrical system demolition, structural wall removal, and selective interior demolition across two facilities. The work supported ORNL’s modernization efforts within one of the country’s most historically significant and technically advanced research campuses, where precision and rigorous safety protocols are essential.
The scope included the safe removal of asbestos containing and lead based materials, along with demolition of outdated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Winter Environmental dismantled structural support walls, HVAC components, piping, tanks, and rooftop mechanical units. Engineered lift plans and heavy crane operations were used to remove large equipment safely while avoiding disruption to active research operations.
Throughout the project, the team worked closely with ORNL personnel to coordinate schedules, establish secure work zones, and protect sensitive laboratory areas. By combining technical expertise, clear communication, and strict adherence to safety and environmental requirements, Winter Environmental delivered complex abatement and demolition services that advanced ORNL’s ongoing modernization mission.
