Winter Environmental was contracted to perform extensive environmental abatement and demolition services at Resurgence Hall in East Point. The project covered multiple floors and building areas, addressing asbestos containing materials, lead based paint, and large scale interior demolition to support redevelopment of the facility.
The asbestos abatement scope included installation of three decontamination units and 15,000 square feet of containment barriers. Crews removed floor tile and mastic from classrooms, hallways, sanctuary areas, and upper level spaces, along with pipe insulation, elbow insulation, exterior wall mastic, soffit materials, and textured ceiling coatings.
Demolition activities were performed across the basement, sanctuary level, balcony, and rear balcony areas. The scope included removal of ceilings, walls, floors, ceramic tile, stage structures, mechanical and electrical components, windows, temporary weather protection, doors, pews, columns, radiators, stairs, platforms, and fixtures. Additional tasks included removing cabinetry, signage, blocking, telecom cabling, ceiling grids, light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, and interior doors and hardware. Lead based paint components were also addressed at exterior columns, doors, and baseboards.
The project concluded with specialized work such as dirt removal around interior columns and the elevator pit, removal of mechanical equipment, and handling mechanical platforms within attic spaces. Winter Environmental executed all phases under controlled conditions to maintain safety, manage multiple hazardous materials, and prepare the building for its next stage of construction.
